Fans Have Fun With WWE Undertaker T-shirt Typo

The sports world has taken a back seat to far more important matters as the coronavirus outbreak has altered practically every facet of contemporary life. With minimal action to enjoy, fans will undoubtedly grow restless the longer the pandemic lasts, but WWE devotees are trying to have a bit of fun during these unsettling times, with many ribbing an Undertaker shirt that contains a humorous typo.

This year marks 30 years since The Undertaker, born Mark William Calaway, joined the WWF, the forerunner of the WWE. The six-foot-10 presence has crafted a legendary career, body slamming his way into discussions on the greatest wrestlers ever.

One would think, then, that Calaway’s clout would make promotional products related to the performer’s feats immune to mistakes, but the T-shirt crediting the 54-year-old for his durability advised people to “Be weary of the old man in a profession where young men don’t last long.” Now, we are all human and thus prone to many mistakes, but an apparel item that likely meant to say “leery” or “wary” and instead ended up making an unintentional pun about age made us smirk, and we were not alone.

Given that the shirt, whose dominant black color is certainly on brand for the Undertaker, will cost fans $27.99, we would have thought that WWE would have had a thesaurus on hand when approving the design, but so be it. Calaway’s three decades of service, which to us, as casual fans, sound impressive, clearly has left some rabid wrestling supporters tired of his antics, so WWE’s gaffe is proving their chance to pile drive not only their fatigue with his vocation, but also the entertainment company’s consistent adulation of him. While the shirt hails him as the Phenom, he also goes by the moniker the Lord of Darkness, so here’s hoping he never sees those tweets.
